Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has revealed that he got his stage name from a friend who was not actively making music.
According to the rapper, his friend came up with the name “Blaqbonez” because he liked rap. However, he was not recording songs or building a music career at the time.

Blaqbonez said while explaining the story behind his unusual stage name.
He said that while they were still in school, he asked his friend if he could use the name because he liked it.
“So, one day I just said, bro, you know, dey use this name. I like am, and that’s how I started bearing Blaqbonez,” he explained.
Blaqbonez said his friend eventually gave him the name. The friend now goes by “BlackLutario,” although the rapper joked that he is still not using the name for music.
Today, Blaqbonez is a well-known Nigerian rapper signed to Chocolate City Music. He joined the label in 2019 and has released three albums.
Who would have thought a name created so casually by a friend not interested in music, would eventually became the identity of a successful Nigerian rapper.
